Promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed today that he will sue Ryan Garcia if Golden Boy Promotions is not included in his eight-round exhibition fight against Rukiya Anpo on December 30 in Tokyo, Japan.
De La Hoya said Ryan negotiated a deal behind his back for the exhibition match against Anpo, and he can’t do it because he has “global rights” to his fights. He says he wants Ryan, 26, to make money, but he has to honor the contract he has with Golden Boy.

“I’m not sure I saw the press conference for the next show between Ryan Garcia and Rukiya Anpo because Ryan’s team thought they could negotiate a deal behind my back,” said Oscar De La Hoya on the i am. Clap on ThursdayThey’re talking about why Ryan Garcia’s eight-round exhibition match against Rukiya Anpo on December 30th is blocked.
“Everyone is aware that I have global rights to Ryan Garcia’s fights. So, what the fuck? When you sign a contract, it means, it means it’s legally binding and it means you have to follow the rules or risk being sued, which is what unfortunately we have to do if Golden Boy is not included in the fight.
“To every person who says I’m trying to block this fight, you’re stupid. I want Ryan to make money. I want him to fight, but I demand that he honor his contract. Let’s say you start a business. You want like honor lets things slide and gives some people a slide and gives some people a pass. No, you don’t, and neither do I,” De La Hoya said.
