IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois shocked the world when he landed a devastating right hand that knocked out former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) in the fifth again
In front of a crowd of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium in London, Daniel Dubois was making his first title defense, and produced the most dominant performance of his career. Dubois was in control from start to finish, and due to his impressive performance, the IBF champion officially put the rest of the division on alert.
Dubois started out very aggressive as he quickly got inside and hit Joshua with hard shots. As the opening round drew to a close, Joshua landed a solid uppercut, but then Dubois landed a devastating overhand right that sent Joshua down to the canvas.
Joshua managed to get up, and as the referee continued to count, the bell rang to officially end the round. At the start of the second round, Dubois hit Joshua with a flurry of shots, but as the second round progressed, Dubois’ punch production diminished.
Dubois was reenergized at the start of the third as he continued to press forward and landed powerful shots. In the final seconds of the third round, Dubois connected with a flurry of punches, which sent Joshua back to the canvas.
After surviving the third round, Joshua went down for a third time in the opening seconds of the fourth round. For the remainder of the quarter, Dubois continued to press forward and land powerful punches.
In the fifth round of the IBF heavyweight champion’s fight, Anthony Joshua was finally fighting off the front foot as he hurt Dubois when he landed a pair of hard right hands. As Joshua moved in to continue his attack, Dubois floored Joshua when he landed a vicious counter right hand.
