Shoulder pain Brock Purdy is serious enough to keep him out of a big fight In the 12th week.

Purdy has been ruled out of the San Francisco 49ers’ game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Brandon Allen will start for the Niners.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan believes the shoulder injury will keep Burdy out for just one game.

“I don’t want to say there’s no long-term concern, you know, we did the MRI on Monday and we thought he needed some rest and we weren’t really worried that he wouldn’t be good this week,” Shanahan said.

“But it started on Thursday and it was surprising to him and we were surprised how he felt. So we had to shut him down and I didn’t know what to think about that. The MRI wasn’t like that, “so he should be fine, but how is he doing this week? Whether he responds is actually up in the air next week, so we’ll have to see on Monday.”

Shanahan announced last Monday that Purdy would be day-to-day because of shoulder soreness. That led to limited practice and he left early practice on Thursday for treatment and did not speak to the media, which can be an indicator of whether or not a player will be active.

Unfortunately for San Francisco, Purdy’s silence speaks volumes. Midway through his third season, Purdy would miss the first game of his career due to injury.

In addition to Purdy, 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa will also be out against Green Bay.
