Boxing’s first true mega-fight in ages: Canelo Vs. Crawford!

After years of mismatches, ducking, and Twitter callouts, we finally have one true super fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is set to meet Terence “Bud” Crawford on September 13 in Las Vegas. And yes, pigs really could fly because this fight is as unlikely as it gets.

Crawford’s Uphill Battle (Literally)

Let’s get one thing straight: Terence Crawford, a natural 147-pound welterweight, is jumping up three weight classes to fight Canelo. THREE. This guy wasn’t exactly a knockout artist at 154 lbs in his fight here, but sure, why not test your limits against a guy who has knocked people out at 168 lbs and still held his own at 175? It sounds reasonable.

Bud is 38, by the way. Most fighters at that age are thinking about retirement, not booking a fight against one of the most dangerous men in the sport. But hey, there’s probably a Brinks truck parked in Crawford’s driveway as we speak, so who are we to judge?

Vegas knows what’s going on

Oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag do not buy into the underdog fairy tale. Opened with Canelo as -150 favorite and Crawford at +120. It has already changed to:

  • Canelo: -185
  • Crawford: + 155

Translation: The size difference is not only real, it is ridiculous. And bettors flock to Canelo like Black Friday to Walmart.

Can Bud Shock the World?

Crawford is one of the best pound for pound fighters out there. But this is less “pound for pound” and more “pound for pound.” plus fifty.” If he somehow beats Canelo, they need to rewrite the history books, build him a statue, and crown him the king of all combat sports.

But let’s be real. Canelo has spent years turning natural supermen into punching bags. And now a welterweight, even if he is brilliant, must survive this? Good luck, Bud. You will need it.
