UA rematch that has been two years in the making is official. Josh Taylor will face Jack Catterall in a non-title match this May 25. The fight was scheduled for April 27 before Taylor had to withdraw due to injury.
Taylor, mgold medalist at the 2014 London Gamesturned professional in 2015.
After beating José Ramírez For the WBC and WBO belts, Taylor became the undisputed champion. When he defeated Catterall via a controversial split decision, many believed Catterall had won.
The rematch never came to fruition after an injury to Taylor, who was subsequently stripped of his belts before losing the WBO titles against Teófimo López.
On this occasion there will be no titles at stake, only the right to regain lost fame.
“I’ve never run from anyone in my life, especially Jack Catterall,” Taylor said. “They’ve spent the last two years going from promoter to promoter while living off my name.
Jack needs to be careful what he wishes for because he’s going to get hit hard this weekend. “I’m going to enjoy every second of this. See you soon, Jack.”
