Raymond Ford (16-1-1, 8 KOs) returned to his winning ways with a lopsided ten-round unanimous decision victory over Orlando Gonzalez (23-3, 13 KOs) in a super featherweight bout on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. in Philadelphia.
Former WBA featherweight champion Ford, 25, showed excellent power in his right hand, knocking Gonzalez down with hooks to the head in rounds two and eight. Gonzalez made things easy for Ford by getting in front of him and presenting an easy target.
Ford looked like a shark, going for the knockout in rounds nine and ten, but unable to hit Gonzalez to land anything meaningful. He motioned for Gonzalez to stop so he could continue to pound him with right hooks, but he didn’t want to let the younger and stronger Ford finish.
The scores were 99-89, 100-89 and 100-88.
