Arlington, Texas – The long-awaited rematch between two of the best female boxers took place on one of the biggest stages ever. The match served as the co-main event at the world boxing event between headliners Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

Netflix reported staggering numbers, with 60 million households tuning in to watch the main event and 50 million to watch the epic battle between Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs) and Amanda Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KOs ). With 72,000 in attendance at AT&T Stadium, the game was the most watched women’s sporting event in history.

Amanda Serrano applied smart pressure and almost scored a knockout in the 1st round, stunning Katie Taylor with a hard left. Katie looked affected by the punch for the first three rounds, looking a bit dazed and still recovering from the punch. Getting off to an unusually slow start.

Katie was hesitant and cautious; It wasn’t until Serrano suffered a nasty cut over his right eye that Taylor started trading heavily with Serrano. The cut was the result of one of the many headbutts Taylor gave Serrano. The fight itself was a war, one that saw both fighters throw 1,263 punches between the two. Amanda outscored Taylor 324 to 217, respectively.

He landed 58.2 percent of his punches. Taylor’s face showed the brutality of Serrano’s punches in the post-fight press conference. Taylor required stitches and had swelling over most of her face – – showing swollen eyes, lips, nose and forehead.

Serrano suffered minimal damage with the exception of a nasty cut over his right eye. The two fought to a controversial decision, where Taylor was awarded a unanimous decision despite having a point deduction for an excessive head in round 8. All three judges scored it 95-94 for Taylor.

Arguably, the first match seemed to be much closer than the second, as Serrano seemed to have gained an edge. The controversial decision should not, however, remove the clash between two great warriors who gave everything. Neither gave in, showing the world why they are two of the best boxers in the world.

At the post-fight press conference, both promoters Eddie Hearn and Nakisa Bidarian vocalized interest in a third match, expressing the wishes of Taylor and Serrano. If a third match occurs, it should be as big as the first two. Both have a warrior spirit and should be commended for their efforts. It is rare to see great fights, much rarer to see two between the same individuals.
