Boxing results: Floyd Schofield defeats Rene ‘El Bravo’ Tellez Giron

WBA International Lightweight champion Floyd Schofield easily defeated Rene “El Bravo” Tellez Giron despite suffering a bout on Saturday night at The Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

In the co-main event, WBA Inter-Continental Super Middleweight champion Bektemir Melikuziev won a 12-round split decision over David ‘Dynamite’ Stevens.

Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) defeated ‘El Bravo’ Rene Tellez Giron (20-4, 13 KOs) in 12 rounds.

In the first round, it was all about the taller and faster Schofield. In the second round, Schofield switched to southpaw and had another easy round, with Giron on the receiving end of everything.

In the third round, there were wild punches from both, as Schofield claimed she was hit in the back of the head and turned her back on her opponent when referee Thomas Taylor warned Giron may have pulled the trigger.

In the fourth round, Schofield continued to work Giron, who couldn’t seem to deal with Schofield’s hand speed. In the fifth round, Giron continued to pressure Schofield, but was countered.

In the sixth round, both fighters were warned for striking behind the head. Schofield wins through the first half of the fight, but it’s not pleasing the crowd for the fans.

In the seventh round, Schofield continues to switch from orthodox to southpaw, giving Giron a boxing lesson, but is warned by Referee Taylor to hold on one occasion.

In the eighth round, Schofield continues to dominate Giron, who is very frustrated coming forward and walking into punches. Between shifts, Schofield’s father-coach is very frustrated with him.

In the last thirty seconds of the ninth round, Schofield landed Giron and then caught him, having been warned by Referee Taylor. In the tenth round, Schofield seems frustrated that he cannot leave Giron.

In the eleventh round, Giron landed a left hook against a missed Schofield, dropping Schofield for the first time in his career for an 8-count by referee Taylor.

In the twelfth and final round, Schofield continued to dominate, although he looked a little tired as Giron never stopped trying, but he completely dominated.

Scores 118-109, 118-109 and 116-111.

In the main support bout, southpaw Meliluziev (15-1, 10 KOs) won a 12-round split decision over Stevens. (14-2, 10 KOs).

In the first two rounds, Meliluziev had his way. In the third round, Stevens put up a fight, pulling Meliluziev to the canvas in the final seconds.

In the fifth round, Stevens had Meliluziev’s nose bleeding easily, taking the round. From the sixth to the eighth round, Stevens had an advantage, albeit a close one.

In the ninth round, Meliluziev was cut on the left eyebrow, knowing that he was in a fight. In the tenth and eleventh rounds, Stevens seemed to have an advantage.

In the twelfth and final round, Meliluziev outworked Stevens, who might have needed a stoppage.

The scores were 116-112 for Stevens, 118-110, and 117-111 for Meliluziev.

IBF world flyweight champion Gabriella ‘Sweet Poison’ Fundora (15-0, 7 KOs) unified the titles by stopping WBA, WBC and WBO champion Gabriella ‘La Chucky’ Celeste Alaniz (15-2, 6 KOs) at 1:40. of the seventh round of a 10-round schedule.

In the first two rounds, the top southpaw Fundora used his jab. In the third round, Alaniz came back, putting up a fight. In the fifth round, in the final seconds, Fundora snapped Alaniz’s head back with a left head, but it wasn’t enough.

In the seventh round, Fundora dropped Alaniz with a left hand for an 8 count from referee Robert Hoyle. Seconds later, another one left Fundora and went down again, forcing referee Hoyle to call it quits.

Welterweight Joel Iriarte (5-0, 5 KOs) stopped Xavier Madrid (5-6, 2 KOs) at 2:50 of the first round of the scheduled six rounds.

In the first round, Iriarte had Madrid in trouble early, and in the last minute, a right on the chin left Madrid when Referee Thomas Taylor caught him.

WBA Super middleweight Darius ‘DFG’ Fulghum (12-0, 10 KOs) stopped southpaw Christopher Pearson (17-4-1, 12 KOs) at 1:02 of the third round of a scheduled ten round bout.

In the first round, Fulghum dropped Pearson for an 8 count in the final seconds. In the second round, Fulghum overtook Pearson. In the third round, landing more than half a dozen punches, Fulghum was declared the winner by referee Mike Ortega.

Bantamweight Jordan Fuentes (2-0) defeated Roberto Cantu Pina (4-5, 3 KOs) in four rounds. The scores were 40-36, 40-36 and 40-36.

Super featherweight Dalis Kaleiopue (6-0, 4 KOs) defeated Manuel Lerna (4-1) in six rounds.

The scores were 60-54, 60-54 and 60-54.

Featherweight Asa ‘Ace’ Stevens (7-0, 2 KOs) defeated Garen ‘Hellboy’ Diagan (10-5, 5 KOs) in six rounds.

The scores were 60-54.
