Gervonta Davis (30-0, 287 KO) knocked out Frank Martin in the eighth round to retain, for the fifth time, the lightweight champion belt of the World Boxing Association (WBA). The fight, which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, ended when Davis chained a series of hands on his rival that closed with a left hook that left him out of combat.
Davis had not fought since April 2023 when he also knocked out Ryan García. Just a month later he entered prison where he spent 44 days in a detention center in Baltimore for violating the terms of a house arrest stemming from a hit-and-run accident in November 2020 that left four people dead.
“He was a little rusty, but I’m back. Once he got tired, I started tearing him up,” Davis analyzed at the end of the fight. Ryan García asks for revenge against Davis

As soon as the fight ends, García approached the ring to hug Davis. He was wearing a T-shirt that read: “Give me revenge, bitch” on the back and on the chest: “Tank’s No. 1 Fan.”
Despite the rivalry, Ryan García thinks highly of Davis since he came to his defense in recent months when García’s alleged doping and his legal problems became known.
