EMexican boxer Moisés ‘Taz’ Calleros has been suspended for four years for doping by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD).
What the UKAD did not know is that the boxer died suddenly on March 1 at the age of 34 after suffering cardiac arrest in Nuevo León (his lifeless body was found in a home in Juárez), so they announced the sanction for a positive for cocaine and benzoylecgonine in his last fight.
“Mexican professional boxer Moisés Calleros has been banned from any sport that complies with the World Anti-Doping Code for four years, as a result of Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRV) due to the Presence and Use of a Prohibited Substance,” reported the Anti-Doping Agency of the United Kingdom.
Moisés ‘Taz’ Calleros’ last fight, which he lost by technical knockout in the fourth round, was against the British Galal Yafai in April 2023 at the O2 Arena in London.
Yafai himself warned the UKAD of Calleros’s death: “He died in March in case you didn’t already know! Rest in PEACE.”
UKAD recanted and apologized shortly afterwards: “UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has today received information regarding the death of Mexican professional boxer Moisés Calleros. UKAD received this information shortly after publishing details of the outcome of a case involving the Mr Calleros following UK anti-doping rules. Sadly, UKAD had no information about Mr Calleros’ sad passing at the time of publication and has now removed all details of this case from its channels.”

Moisés ‘Taz’ Calleros boxed for 16 years with a record of 50 fights as an amateur and 58 as a professional (36 wins, 11 losses and one draw).
In 2020 he fought Julio César Martínez for the World Flyweight Championship. He also fought against the Japanese Ryuya Yamanaka for the minimum weight title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
