Blair Cobbs says Devin Haney is a “coward,” and he’s worried that if he beats him, his defeat will have to be wiped from his record somehow. A sparring session between the two fighters recently surfaced, showing Cobbs beating the crap out of Haney at times, landing some big shots.
Haney and Cobbs are rumored to fight next in December. If this is true, it would be Haney’s comeback fight and his way to get his feet wet in the welterweight division. The 25-year-old Haney has surpassed the 140 lb division, and it would be a mistake for him to drop down the weight class for his next fight.
If Devin is fighting at 60% capacity due to the 20+ lbs water weight he has to shed, even a tune-up level fighter could beat him. A second straight defeat would result in the mega-paydays Haney is accustomed to disappearing. In addition, he no longer be on the A-list is given the red-carpet treatment to the events. It would just be another contender removed.
Haney is a fight Cobbs says he’d like to have, but doubts it will happen. Haney is still sitting on the shelf after the bad experience he had, losing to Ryan Garcia on April 20th. Some fans wonder if Haney will ever be the same after the way Ryan hit him.

Blair says the Ostarine that Ryan tested positive for did nothing to affect the outcome of the fight. In other words, Haney lost the fight because Ryan was a better fighter, and he had his number.

How Cobbs looked against Adrien Broner last June would be too much for Haney. Cobbs hits too hard and hits Haney all night. It might not go the distance.
“There have been no discussions. Honestly, there have been more discussions about a Conor Benn or Ennis than Devin Haney,” Cobbs said to Marco when asked if there were any negotiations for a fight with Haney. “However, it would be great for boxing.

“If I could fight anyone, it would be Ryan Garcia. I can wait, but it would be a fight worth waiting for. I’ll take a tune-up and then fight Ryan Garcia. I’ll get a heavy promotion. Once I win that fight, my star status will grow ten times, twenty times, and probably a hundred times.
“Devin would probably be the last fight I want because they can’t take a loss. They (Team Haney) are going to start crying all the way. They can’t take a loss. They’re going to reverse it (have the loss overturned). They’re going to do something. They are a very unfair group of people who cannot take a loss.
“You’ve come this far doing what you’re doing, but when you’ve reached this point, it’s time for you to gracefully bow out that you’ve lost and be the champion that you are. You can’t do that. So all that praise is fake . Everything that’s happened so far is fake,” Cobbs said of Haney.
Ryan knocked a few chips out of Haney’s self-belief with that three-knockout, 12-round majority decision, and it doesn’t look good that he’s been inactive all this time without getting back in the ring against one of murderers at 140 years. or 147. Haney could have wrestled Sandor Martin, Liam Paro, or practically anyone.
“You’re not the real champion because where was Sugar Ray Leonard when he took a loss? He’s back. No, because Ostarine is not something that someone took blood doping,” said Cobbs when asked if he thought that Haney shouldn’t make a big deal about Ryan Garcia testing positive for a PED for his April 20 fight.
Haney had the opportunity to defend his WBA welterweight title against Sandor Martin, but chose not to accept the fight after a low purse. He was demoted from WBC champion to “Champion in Recess”, and is no longer the 140 lb champion with that organization.
Haney should have taken that fight because it would have given him an opportunity to get an easy payday and show the fans that he is back from his loss to Ryan. His decision to turn down the fight and lose his WBC title made many fans think that he has lost his self-confidence since his defeat.
“Of course, they wouldn’t take extremely small doses of it as if it’s going to do anything. Most of the time, they have Ostarine in most of the supplements. The thing is, they’re dosages so low that they don’t don’t even put it on the label. When you do these kinds of anti-doping things, they’re going to bring all kinds of things, right? That doesn’t mean it’s going to do anything.
“I will show you all the supplements I took just to keep my ** alive in the training camp. I can say that even if they have the highest grade and the best qualities, they had something like “I, I don’t know what it is.” I did a lot of research to find out that Ostarine is a very common thing among supplements in general. Most of the time, supplements are contaminated with very, very small doses of Ostarine.
“Ostarine is not an enhancer at that level. It’s only an enhancer when it’s in a high dose, and it’s combined with other things,” Cobbs said.
Whether Ostarine helped Ryan Garcia or not, we will never know until he and Devin fight again. A rematch is not promised with Haney’s father, Bill Haney, who gives 48-hour drug test deadlines and appears to have not yet mentally processed the reality of what happened last April. Bill still acts like he thinks Devin is on top of the world, undefeated in a real sense, and seen as #1 at 140.
None of these things are valid anymore. Ryan changed all that with his one-sided victory over Haney, and Bill has to understand that his son is seen as yesterday’s news by the fans. It will stay that way until Haney proves he’s not washed up.
