David Montgomery He joins a growing roster of Detroit Lions players Who will miss the remainder of the 2024 season?
Detroit coach Don Campbell told reporters Monday that the Lions running back suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in a loss to the Buffalo Bills that will require season-ending surgery.
“We’re going to miss him,” Campbell said.
Montgomery was one of four Lions players. Defensive tackle Alum McNeil suffered a season-ending torn ACL, cornerback Carlton Davis suffered a broken jaw and cornerback Khalil Dorsey broke his right leg, sidelining him for the rest of the season, according to multiple reports.
Lions coach Dan Campbell, speaking to reporters after Sunday’s 48-42 loss, expressed fear that each player could miss the rest of the season.
“We’ll know more about Alum and Davis tomorrow, but I don’t feel good about either of them,” Campbell said. “When I say I’m not well because of the injury, it means I’m not well for the rest of the season.”
For the second consecutive season, Montgomery has teamed up with Jahmir Gibbs to form one of the best running back duos in the league. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry and rushed for 775 yards on 12 touchdowns, fourth most in the league.
