Bill Haney took to social media today to let promoter Oscar De La Hoya know that his son Devin Haney’s lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia is “on hold.”

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is suing Ryan for a doping violation from their fight on April 20, in which Garcia tested positive for a banned substance.

Haney, 25, has not said what his plans are for his career or if he will ever fight. If that’s Devin’s focus, hoping to hit it big with his lawsuit, he might be disappointed if he fails. Now, former two-division world champion Haney should have already signaled if he will fight again.

Some fans feel like he has given up and hung up his gloves. He took a vicious beating from Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), falling several times in a 12 round decision loss.

According to Garcia, rematch is no longer an option. He wants nothing to do with Haney because of his lawsuit.

“Oscar De La (Hoya) all out. Gennadiy Golovkin denounced you, and Ryan Garcia threatened to sue him. I don’t need to sit with you for anything,” said Bill Haney on social media, reacting to Oscar De La Hoya saying in X that it would help to understand the contract of the fight of Ryan Garcia last April.

“I see you’re Tweeting a lot, but you’re not talking. Maybe you’re somewhere tweaking. The process stops,” Bill said.

If Haney continues his career, he will try to come back from his loss at 147. That will be difficult for him to do because it is a tough division to compete in for fighters who lack power and a strong chin. Haney could be the equivalent of fish food at welterweight, and he won’t last long in this weight class.
