Bill Haney posted a video showing his son, Devin Haney, working out at the gym and that Ryan Garcia knew he had “six hours” left to sign up for a drug test for a rematch. U ultimatum failed to get a response from Ryan, who is silent on social media.
The six hour deadline seems to be Bill’s power play. If Ryan agreed, it would be a sign of weakness. It could put Ryan in a position of subordination if he accepted the demands.
What is unclear is why Bill wanted Ryan to sign up for the drug test without negotiations for a fight and with his lawsuit still active. Why would Ryan have wanted or needed to sign up for the drug test, unless Haney dropped his case and negotiations had taken place?
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) needs the rematch more than Ryan because Kingry defeated him last April in Brooklyn. He has fewer options than Garcia because he’s not a PPV star, and he doesn’t have a massive following on social media like he does.
Ryan has 12.2 million Instagram followers compared to Haney’s 2.7 million, which is a significant difference.

“Ryan Garcia, throw away your opportunity. You have six hours left. You said you were working. We are too. Let’s see how bad you want it,” Bill said. Haneygiving Ryan a deadline.
It doesn’t look like Haney will be fighting Ryan Garcia next. Bill should have already floated the idea of dropping the process.
In Haney’s training video, he didn’t look powerful or fast with his punches. When he comes back, he’ll have to drop to 135 or fight someone underpowered at 140 or 147 who doesn’t take advantage of his power issues.
