Devin Haney’s father and manager, Bill Haney, has indicated interest in a rematch with Ryan Garcia. Bill says that Garcia has to sign up for the drug test within 48 hours for a rematch with Devin to happen. That’s just one thing that Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) would have to accept, but there is expected to be a lot more.
Garcia did not respond to Bill’s requests for immediate registration in VADA, but he probably agreed because he wants to show that he has nothing to hide.
Also, Garcia is interested in showing the boxing world that he can beat former two-division world champion Haney while testing negative for drugs. Last April, Ryan tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine after his 12-time majority decision win over Haney. The win was later voided by the New York State Athletic Commission and changed to a no contest.
That made Devin happy, but it did nothing to change fans’ memories of Ryan’s one-sided dominance, which saw Haney go down three times and seemingly be saved by the referee in the seventh when he was badly hurt.
Bill posted on Instagram Live, telling fans that Ryan must sign up for drug testing within 48 hours. The way Bill spoke made it clear that he felt he and Devin were the A-side. That might not sit too well with superstar Ryan Garcia, who is undoubtedly the most popular fighter in the United States. He is clearly more famous than Gervonta Davis.
Garcia expressed interest in fighting Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) again last weekend, and says he’s training now to be ready for when that fight happens. It is the biggest money fight for the two, as there are many fans who want to see the two meet after their meeting earlier this year on April 20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“We have no battles or lawsuits. @RyanGarcia you have 48 hours to register in VADA for the rematch. Clean competition, real standards. We are always ready – yes? @Realdevinhaney stay focused, process or not. #NoExcuses #RealChampions #GO #Revenge “#TeamHaney
