Jack Catterall defeated former undisputed super lightweight world champion Josh Taylor by unanimous decision in an exciting rematch in Leeds, which however again ended controversially as the first duel between the two, due to the scores recorded by the judges.

Englishman Catterall avenged his controversial split decision loss to Scottish Taylor in Glasgow two years ago and won one of the hottest duels in British boxing in recent times. The three judges gave the fight to Catterall by a double 117-111 and the other by 116-113.

After the judges’ decisions were revealed, Taylor’s promoter, the legendary Bob Arumtook the microphone and did not mince words when talking about the result presented by the judges: “Those scorecards were a disgrace, an absolute disgrace.”he criticized, adding: “I really feel for Josh, I thought he won the fight. Those scorecards were ridiculous. I will never, ever allow an American fighter to come here with the British Board scoring the fight. Those scores were ridiculous.” Let us remember that Arum has worked with boxers of the caliber of Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao o Tyson Fury.

The other promoter, the British Eddie Hearn, of Matchroom commented: “To be fair, I agree with Bob, the scores were too wide, but certainly the man who deserved it won”.
