The president of the United States promised on Wednesday to continue running for re-election despite growing concern from members of his party about his performance in the debate against former President Donald Trump.

The debate unleashed a series of questions about whether Biden, 81 yearswas mentally capable to run for re-election against Trump. “I introduce myself. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. “Nobody is kicking me out,” Biden said, according to a senior aide who posted his comment on X.

Biden appeared by surprise in a call of the Democratic National Committee with the vice president Kamala Harrisaccording to three people familiar with the matter who were granted anonymity to discuss the private conversation.

Biden gave what was described as a pep talkemphasizing what is at stake in the election and returning to his earlier post-debate comments that would get up after being knocked down. The call follows several efforts by the US president to calm growing anxiety about his physical condition.

White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients urged in a Wednesday meeting for all staff to pay no attention to the “noise” and focus on the task of governing.

He advice editorial of ‘New York Times’ -one of the most read and acclaimed media outlets in the United States- published an opinion article in which he stated that, to serve his country, Biden should drop out of the race.

Despite this, Biden’s family declared to ‘CNN’ that they had implored him to continue fighting for re-election. On Sunday, they encouraged him to stay in the 2024 White House race and debated whether his top aides should be fired after his campaign was plunged into chaos.
