Arsenal They beat Ipswich Town this Friday thanks to a goal from German Kai Havards. And leaders Liverpool are the main trailblazers, six points behind the ‘Reds’.

The ‘Gunners’ were far superior to the ‘Tractor’ and despite the result being only 1-0, Mikel Arteta’s men managed to score more goals and finish the year at their stadium with a win enjoyed by Santi Cazorla. He was invited to the tournament in recognition of his six years at the London club.

Howards, with his seventh goal of the Premier League, opened the scoring by turning in a cross from Leandro Trazzard to finish off a goal between four players. In 17 games, the German striker has already scored more than half of his goals in the Premier League last season, his best mark since arriving in the English league in 2020 when he reached thirteen goals.

Howard’s goal may have been followed by a few more. From one being disallowed for offside against Gabriel Jesus, who scored a spectacular goal without an angle before the Ipswich goalkeeper came out, to Gabriel’s inexplicable failure to finish perfectly a meter from his signature goal, a header from a corner.

Martin Odegaard made it 2-0 with a shot that grazed the crossbar before Michael Merino came off with his clothes on in the final minutes.

David Raya kept his seventh clean sheet of the season, joining Jordan Pickford and Martin Seles in the tournament’s Golden Glow.

The win allows Arsenal to climb to second place on 36 points, with a game in hand of course, and could extend the gap to nine points if they win the postponed game against Everton.
