The Decline of Tyson Fury: Age, weight and wealth hinder his comeback attempt

Tyson Fury failed again on Saturday night, losing in his rematch against three-time heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on Turki Alalashikh’s card in Riyadh. This latest defeat by Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) raises questions about whether his fights against Deontay Wilder got the best of him, leaving the vulnerable shell that Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) rolled to a 12- unanimous decision win.

Fury fans were hoping he would use his massive 55lb, six inch tall gargoyle to subdue the smaller Usyk. The Gypsy King’s team thought he could do to Usyk what he had done against Wilder in their second fight in 2020. He was probably Fury’s baby.

Tyson had the idea to gain a lot of weight from the 262 he weighed in the first fight and try to use his size to beat Usyk as he did against Deontay 1,764 yesterday.

Age and wealth take their toll

Fury, 36, couldn’t do it because he’s not the spry, energetic fighter he was four years ago when he destroyed Deontay in four rounds. Age, weight gain, a poorly thought out game plan and enormous wealth have all taken their toll on Fury. Therefore, he had nothing left to defend Usyk.

The version of Fury beating Wilder would be too much for Usyk, but he’s not that fighter anymore. The witch’s age, weight and wealth made her an easy mark for the talented unified heavyweight champion Usyk.

Usyk-Fury 2 Punch Stats

  • Tyson Fury connected on 144 of 509 for 28%
  • Oleksandr Usyk landed 179 of 423 shots for 42%

The punch statistics clearly show that Usyk was the clear winner. After the fight, Fury made a childish show of himself, complaining about matches and saying he should have won by three rounds. He didn’t even have to try to be graceful about his defeat, take the high road to show some class. I just wonder what Turki Alalashikh thought when he watched how poor a sport The Gypsy King was.

Support of Holyfield

“Tyson Fury, great job. I know you’ll be back. Spend some time with your family,” said Evander Holyfield social mediatrying to pump up Tyson Fury’s spirit after another loss to Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.
