Lamont Roach Snr has not heard a word about the fight between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and his son, Lamont Roach Jnr.
Roach Snr is just like everyone else. who saw Davis’ post on Monday afternoon. The 30-year-old lightweight titleholder posted on his Instagram story that “Fight has been cancelled.”
This was news to Roach Snr, who is also his son’s trainer. who expressed their opinions to BoxingScene as follows:
“We haven’t heard anything. As far as I’m concerned The battle continues.”
Roach Jnr, 29, 25-1-1 (10 KO), from Washington, D.C., won the junior lightweight title with a win over Hector Luis Garcia in November 2023. Since then, he has made one defense. times by stopping Feargal McCrory in eight rounds in June.
Davis-Roach was originally scheduled for Dec. 14 in Houston. But it was rescheduled for March 1 in Brooklyn, New York.
Davis, from Baltimore, 30-0 (28 KO), fought just once this year, stopping undefeated lightweight Frank Martin in the eighth round of the pay-per-view main event in June
“Nothing has changed on our side,” Roach Snr said, noting his son is still preparing for the March 1 pay-per-view.
