Ishmael Davis is confident he will defeat former interim WBC junior middleweight champion Serhii Bohachuk on Saturday in their 12-round co-feature fight on the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 card in Riyadh.

Although Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) has only fought one world-class fighter (Josh Kelly) during his six-year career and lost to him, he feels he has the boxing skills to defeat Bohachuk (24-2 , 23 KOs). ) by a decision.

That’s what he wants. He’s not going to try to knock out Bohachuk, which makes sense because he’s not a big puncher, and he doesn’t throw combinations. Davis was brought in shortly after Bohachuk’s opponent, Israil Madrimov, pulled out of the fight due to an illness.

Ishmael feels that Bohachuk is not that good at fighting inside and thinks that he can throw himself at any distance. It will have to do so because it will fray if it peels or if it is still.

One Trick Pony?

“I’m in the best shape of my life. He’s a good pressure fighter. I don’t think he’s the most skilled, but he puts pressure on people. When he gets the respect he wants, people shake off” , said Ishmael Davis iFL TV about Serhii Bohachuk. “He won’t be able to do this with me. I’m ready for a real war.

“I know what this fight is for me. It’s a great opportunity. This guy is #6 in the world at world level. When I beat this guy, I don’t want a British title. I took a lesson from the Josh Kelly fight .I wasn’t really prepared for that fight. I’m prepared for this.

“I know I’m going to get the win on Saturday night. I don’t care what anybody says. He’s not a better boxer than me, and I don’t think he’s good enough to beat me. He likes to come in. He doesn’t I don’t think it’s really that good on the inside. It’s kind of a one-trick pony. What you see is what you get,” Davis said.

Bohachuk will put a lot of pressure on Davis, trying to turn the fight into an ugly war. Davis says he’s ready for war, but let’s see if he’s serious.

Davis’ game plan

“He’s going to throw a lot of shots at you, and you either make him pay, or he makes you pay,” Davis said. “I saw him stop. I’m not going for the stoppage. I’m going to win, but I just see myself winning this fight. After I beat Serhii, I’m going to go the world way and not the British way.

“It’s a great challenge because there are killers up there, and they have a lot of experience that I don’t have. I like challenges,” Davis said.
