Kurt Scobie went from expecting one opponent as a late replacement to having no fight at all.
Scobee (15-1, 13 knockouts), 29-year-old lightweight and junior welterweight from Pennsylvania. It was scheduled to perform on DAZN on Tuesday evening in a joint event at Sony Hall in New York City.
His original opponent was Brian Jimenez (17-1, 10 KO), but then Jimenez was replaced by Andrew. Rodgers was a late substitute (9-15-3, 3 KOs).
Scoby and Rodgers took the stage Monday, however, before the evening was over. Rodgers also left the fight. And Scobie dropped his guard.
“I’m really sorry. Hearing that my opponent is ill and will not be able to fight tomorrow.” Scoby posted on Instagram on Monday.– “I put my heart and soul into training. Countless hours were devoted to perfecting the skills and preparing for this moment. It is sad to think that I will not have the opportunity to showcase my hard work and passion in the ring. I hope my opponent will recover quickly. and hope to fight in the near future When the situation allows This time period can be disappointing. But my spirit remains undeterred.”
This would be Scobee’s fourth fight of 2024 and his third appearance since suffering his first professional loss. That defeat came in April. When the 29-year-old lightweight from Pennsylvania faced a 6th round TKO against Dakota Linker, 13-6-3.
The main event is a flyweight bout between Andy Dominguez (11-1, 6 KOs) and Angel Giovanni Mesa Morales (8-2-3, 6 KOs).
The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
