ball Freddie Freeman’s grand slam gives Los Angeles Dodgers victory in extra innings In the first game of the last World Series against the New York Yankees, it was auctioned for $1.56 million, the official MLB.com portal reported this Sunday.
The ball was brought to Dynasty Auctions by specialist SCP Auctions.
Japan’s Shohei Ohtani finished 50-50 this year, surpassing the $1.5 million paid for Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ball in 2022 and just shy of the $3 million paid for Mark McGwire’s 70th home run ball in the 1998 season.
Zach Ruderman, a 10-year-old boy, caught Freeman’s throw.
It was the start of Freeman and the Dodgers’ successful pursuit of a World Series title. And so Freeman was named Most Valuable Player.
Freeman hit a home run in the first four games against the Yankees, and he had hits in the last two games of the Fall Classic in 2021 when he won the crown with the Atlanta Braves, the Dodgers’ star first baseman. Set a record of six consecutive home run games in the World Series.
The left-handed slugger had a .300 batting average, with a triple and four home runs, as he drove in 12 runs and scored five runs in the World Series for the Dave Roberts-led team.
