Is spence over? Fundora thinks he can win

Sebastian Furdora says his next title defense of his WBC and WBO middleweight belts “should” be against Errol Spence. Fans have mixed feelings about Fundora, 6’5 1/2″, fighting the Spence who looked burned because he has not done well since his car accident on October 10, 2019.

Is spence washed up?

Errol has fought just three times in the last four years as of 2020, and has been out of the ring since suffering a ninth-round knockout against Terence Crawford on July 30, 2023. In that fight , Spence looked like a broken shell of the fighter. it had been years before.

Spence’s activities since 2020

– Terence Crawford: TKO 9 Loss
– Yordenis Ugas: UD 12 win
– Danny Garcia: UD 12 wins

His reflexes, speed and power are gone. He took a beating from Crawford, who was made to look better than he actually was by the way Spence appeared physically depleted. During the interview before the fight, you could tell that Spence wasn’t right. He sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles and was talking in slow motion.

Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) and former unified welterweight champion Spence (28-1, 21 KOs) have been mentioned as the next fight since Sebastiano’s win over the WBO 154- lb. Tim Tszyu on March 30 earlier this year.

Spence entered the ring at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas immediately following Fundora’s 12-round split decision against Tszyu, making it clear they would fight next.

“This should be the next one. I think it’s going to be a good fight with a lot of action. He throws a lot of punches. He throws a lot of punches,” Sebastian Fundora told BoxNation about him and Errol Spence fighting next. “He is an advanced fighter. I also consider myself that. It would be good for the Mexican fans in America.”

Fundora’s opportunity

Unsurprisingly, Fundora, 26, is excited about the fight against Spence as his chances of victory are said to be high. Fans would much rather see Fundora take on someone more convincing, like the IBF 154-lb champion Bakhram Murtazaliev after rather than Spence. At least that fight would be more sporting.

Fundora is seen as a vulnerable card champion who will only retain his title if he is carefully matched. His title reign will end if he fights someone of quality like Murtazaliev, Vergil Ortiz Jr, Serhii Bohachuk, or Israil Madrimov.

Fundora was supposed to fight a rematch against Brian Mendoza to avenge his seventh round loss on April 8, 2023. That was only a year ago, and he hasn’t done anything in the direction of fighting Mendoza of again
