Floyd Schofield Sr. said in an interview tonight that the fight between his son, Kid Austin, and WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson will be announced on Monday, December 2 in Saudi Arabia for the February 22 card in Riyadh.

Schofield Sr. claims the Shakur-Kid Austin fight will be announced when US fans wake up Monday morning tomorrow. He says it’s a “done deal,” and Golden Boy and the network agreed.
Fans on social media are still in disbelief that the fight will happen, but we’ll see tomorrow if Floyd Sr.
Oscar De La Hoya said he felt Schofield needed more experience before taking on three-division world champion Shakur, who is older and has fought in the pro ranks longer. He fought the opposition better, and is an Olympic silver medalist.
Schofield Sr. he’s excited to fight Shakur, and he’ll find out the hard way that he can’t be happy with the outcome of this match. He didn’t say the purse for Kid Austin, but it’s probably a couple of million. Why Schofield Sr. be so eager, it should be by far the biggest payday of Floyd Jr.’s career.
Looking for the Knockout
“They make an announcement in their country (Saudi Arabia), it should be broadcast. It’s a done deal. Everything is good,” said Floyd Schofield Sr. Punch Drunk Boxing about his fight with Shakur Stevenson official for February 22 in Riyadh.
“He’s going to keep his word. It’s going to be a great fight,” Floyd Sr. said. on Shakur keeping his word to fight Kid Austin. “De Los Santos was a flat foot. “Kid” is not flat. Our goal is to chase him.
“I don’t think they’re going to put us on the cards. So, our goal is to get him out strategically. We’re excited because no matter what people say, ‘The kid’s not ready.’ Kid has a puncher’s chance, and everyone knows Kid can crack.
For Schofield Sr. to be in a big race to make the fight with Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs), is a strong signal that this is only about money because he has not fought any contenders during his professional career of four years.
They should have had Kid Austin fight the top 15 contenders to help prepare him to fight for a world title, but they cut corners. Schofield will always have the power, youth and speed advantage over Shakur. If he can walk through Stevenson’s timely shots to land something big, he has a chance. It will be hard to get to Shakur without getting caught.
“That’s all he needs. Shakur is going to have a flawless performance for 12 rounds. All we have to do is connect one or two times to that chin, and it’s a done deal. So, we’re happy with that,” said Schofield Sr.
Kid Austin does not possess the power of a fist. He hits hard, but he gets most of his knockouts by landing a flurry of shots during fights that stretch into the second half. The thing is, Schofield hasn’t fought any top-tier opposition, and he hasn’t been able to score quick KOs either.
“We saw his (Shakur) last fight. How much growth did we see? His hand was hurt. I don’t see him getting more knockouts. So his knockout percentage hasn’t grown. Has he gotten more skilled?” Schofield said. Sr. about Shakur.
Stevenson obviously isn’t designed to fight at lightweight. He hit his ceiling when he fought at featherweight (126), and he doesn’t have the kind of power to hurt fighters at 135. But that doesn’t matter because Kid Austin is not a great knockout puncher, and l the only way. he can win is by decision. He won’t be able to land often enough to KO Shakur.
