Teofimo Lopez came out of the woodwork today, stating that “reasonable offers” have been sent to Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr, both of whom have “declined.”
Teofimo Claims
Lopez (21-1, 13 KO), who holds the WBO light welterweight title, did not disclose the offers, but they were likely the lowball variety. There is no way on earth that little “Emperor” Cambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) would turn down an offer if it was “reasonable”.
Kambosos has already beaten Teofimo like a drum once, and beating him again would give him a fresh start, a fresh start. With three defeats in his last four fights, Kambosos needs a pick-me-up now, and he is not about to say no to any offer from Teofimo if it was a series.
Teofimo, 27, has looked like a shell of the fighter he once was since his career-best win over Vasily Lomachenko in 2020. This fight got the best of Teo, leaving the fighter confused and babbling that we saw lose to Kambosos in 2021. , and given very controversial victories over Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz.
It’s no shock that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) would turn down an offer from Teofimo because he received a big purse for his last fight against Ryan Garcia on April 20, and he didn’t return to the ground, just getting it. trifle, being paid the challenge dough for a match against Teo.
The emperor’s second chance
You can understand why Haney would say no, but NOT Kambosos. With a record of 1-3 in his last four fights, “The Emperor” is not in a position to refuse any offer from Teofimo because it is a fight that would bring good dough in Australia PPV.
Also, if Kambosos beat Teofimo again, he would be back where he was in 2021. He could turn the win into a potential matchup against Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis or a trilogy with Haney.
We sent reasonable offers to fight to both Team Haney and Team Kambosos. Both are declined! If you don’t believe, ask @trboxing and @BruceTrampler.
You’re peeing on that WITSEC! #Boxing @Realdevinhaney @georgekambosos
