Artur Beterbiev asked his followers today on X if there should be a rematch between him and Dmitry Bivol. Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) defeated former WBA welterweight champion Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) by a controversial 12-round majority decision on October 12 in Riyadh.
Fans and Bivol’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, have been squawking about the results ever since. Hearn wants the Beterbiev-Bivol rematch on February 22 on the giant card of the Riyadh season that comes together.
Hearn is still very bitter about the loss of Bivol, feeling he was given a raw deal. Bivol lost his nerve for the fight after Beterbiev took the fight to him in the seventh.
The scores:
– 115-113
– 116-112
– 114-114
“I believe that Dmitry Bivol will become the undisputed lightweight champion of the world in the rematch,” Eddie Hearn told TNT Sportsdisgusted by his fight, Bivol, loses to Beterbiev.
“The whole world will want to see it again … everyone I know who knows that boxing won Bivol.” We take the result on the chin, but you can’t just back down… in moments of big generational battles like this, you need to do well.”
