Deontay Wilder posted a lengthy video on Instagram today, saying he won’t listen to his critics and suggesting he should retire.

Former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KOs) turned 39 last month in October and has lost four of his last five fights. His last loss, a fifth-round knockout to Zhilei Zhang on June 1, was especially embarrassing given how he pushed himself and flattened himself in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Wilder Refuses to Face the Truth

It was Wilder’s second consecutive loss in Riyadh, and it is possible that he will not be invited by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh after that. While Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are both losing, they have not been beaten twice in a row like Wilder.

Earlier this week, Wilder revealed that he had fought with a broken right arm in his losses to Joseph Parker and Zhang in 2024. The fans did not believe a world that Wilder said and saw it as a classic example of a fighter creating excuses to try. and prevents people from jumping overboard of their sinking ship.

They feel that Wilder doesn’t want to face the truth that he shot and maybe he was never a good fighter.

Wilder’s resume shows that he faced tough opposition every step of the way until his match against Tyson Fury in 2018, when he was exposed by a basically British heavyweight. Deontay made Fury look good, and he was also protected.

Wilder Stubborn & Defiant

“Listen, everybody’s going to have an opinion about you, but those opinions don’t matter. You’re going to have life knock you down and knock you down,” said Deontay Wilder Instagram. “It’s the mentality to keep moving forward.

“I’ve been through losses long before boxing. I’ve been through challenges long before I set foot in the ring. I’ve been hit and knocked down long before I’ve put on a pair of boxing gloves. I’m still here because it’s the mentality of to give back and to keep moving forward … Another important mission is to get in the ring and do what I was meant to do,” said Wilder.

If Deontay is going to get his career back on track, he needs to do three things if he wants to right his ship before it sinks:

  1. Fire trainer Malik Scott
  2. Take four rebuilding battles
  3. Permanently keep away from punchers
