Boxing News 24 provides live scores and updates from tonight’s action below.

DAZN’s Chris Mannix reveals that Lemos weighed in at 144.6 lbs for this morning’s weigh-in, allowing the fight to go forward.

Keyshawn proudly boasted to the media this week that he sold more than 10,000 tickets to the event at Scope Arena. The venue accommodates 10,253 fans. This is the 25-year-old Keyshawn’s first main event, and he’s making a homecoming to fight in front of his fans in Norfolk.

Lemos (29-1, 19 KO) came in 6.4 lbs over the 135 lb limit at 141.4 lbs during last Thursday’s weigh-in for Friday’s lightweight bout. The Commission set a rehydration limit of 146 lbs for today that Lemos had to do. Otherwise, the fight would have been canceled regardless of whether Keyshawn wanted the bout to continue.

ESPN + at 10:00 pm Main Card

  • Lightweight Keyshawn Davis (11-0, 7 KOs) faces Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs) in a 10-round contest.
  • Middleweight prospect Troy Isley (13-0, 5 KO) hopes to impress against Tyler Howard (20-1, 11 KO) in a 10-round fight. 2020 US Olympian Isley, 26, has been fighting since turning pro, narrowly defeating operator Vladimir Hernandez last year on November 16, 2023, winning a close eight-round unanimous decision.
  • Lightweight prospect Abdullah Mason (15-0, 13 KOs) takes on tough veteran Yohan Vasquez (26-5, 21 KOs) in an eight-round fight. Top Rank is grooming 20-year-old Mason to be one of its future stars. Of all the fighters on tonight’s card, Mason has the most potential to become a world champion and a future superstar.
  • Welterweight prospect Kelvin Davis (13-0, 7 KO), the brother of Keyshawn, will fight Yeis Solano (15-3, 10 KO) in an eight-round fight. The lanky 6’1″ Kevin is coming off a narrow eight-round majority decision victory over Kelvin Johnson on July 6, and there are doubts about his ability to be a contender. He misses his brother Keyshawn’s talent.

In retrospect, Top Rank, the promoters of tonight’s event, mistakenly chose Lemos, a light welterweight (140 lbs), to use as Keyshawn’s opponent instead of choosing someone from the lightweight division (135) .

You are asking for trouble as a promoter if you select fighters from a higher weight class to fight your guys. When it works, it’s great for the fighter trying to build into a star because they get to face an opponent stripped of weight with a name and potentially look better than they actually are.

The 28-year-old Argentinian Lemos is coming off a controversial 12-round unanimous decision loss to Richardson Hitchins on April 6 in Las Vegas. This fight was held at 140 in the light welterweight division.
