Patrick Mahomes “Monday Night Football” gave all Kansas City Chiefs fans a little scare. But all was well as the team remained undefeated after beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24.

But in this case, overtime was needed to decide if Kansas City was undefeated in Week 9.

The Chiefs are 8-0 so far this year, while the Bucks fell to 4-5 after losing their third straight game.

The Buccaneers, trailing by a touchdown with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter, couldn’t go out without a fight in this one, and Baker Mayfield had the right motivation to give more time on the clock.

Mayfield found Ryan Miller for a one-yard touchdown, but instead of taking the lead by two, Todd Bowles went for the extra point, tying the game at 24 apiece.

Bowles didn’t know it at the time, but a two-man play would have won the game for Tampa Bay, while Mahomes, flipping the coin to go his way in overtime, never allowed the Bucks to get the ball back.

Mahomes split the Buccaneers’ defense on the first and only drive of overtime to set up Kareem Hunt to score the overtime touchdown on a one-yard run.
