O’Hara Davies believes his former foe Josh Taylor needs to consider his future in the sport. Before he ruins his reputation any further.

Davies, who recently decided to hang up his gloves after losing to Adam. Asim last month I believe Taylor should consider doing the same. Davies was a mainstay at the start. It is implied that he has stopped loving the sport. and seemed happy to see behind the scenes of the game he once loved. He believes he sees similar signs in Taylor.

The Scot, now 33, achieved what many dreamed of in 2021 when he defeated Jose Carlos Ramirez to unify all four belts in the junior lightweight division. Davies believes that after such success, Taylor was no longer as hungry as before.

“I don’t know where his mind is. Or where his heart is,” Davies told BoxingScene. “Sometimes when you’ve won it all and are the undisputed champion. The love for the game will continue. I think with Taylor we saw that. He’s not the same. He doesn’t have the same energy as when he was in the World Boxing Super Series and when he won undisputedly. He just doesn’t have the same fire. That hasn’t been there for a few years.”

After climbing to the top of the 140-pound division, Taylor’s performance seemed to plummet. Many considered him lucky to beat Jack Catterall and lost the title after being outclassed by Teofimo Lopez.

Another fight with Catterall saw the Scot’s performance improve, but this time Taylor suffered his second consecutive loss. Davies believed that these feats and contributions were damaging Taylor’s reputation. The former world champion was once considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

“Taylor isn’t the same fighter he was,” Davies said. “I think he needs to sit back and ask himself, ‘Is it worth it? Will I further tarnish my reputation? Because that was tarnished after the Catterall fight and the Teofimo Lopez fight. The Taylor we all know is a fierce fighter. You can walk past anyone. He can beat anyone, can’t lose to anyone, can’t lose to anyone, no problem. Now many people look at him like a joke. Like he’s a clown fighter. It’s like he’s walking across the street.

“That’s not the Taylor we all know. Sometimes you have to sit back and ask yourself, ‘Is it worth it? I made money, I won it all. Why would I continue to ruin my reputation?’ But it’s up to him to sit down and decide. I hope he makes the right decision.”
