Tyson Fury talked about the $200 million he has stashed in his bank account during today’s press conference for his rematch with unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st.
Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) revealed he doesn’t care about winning world titles or his legacy. All his focus is “money” and to earn as much as he can before retiring when “the wheels fall off”.
She was motivated by money
In addition to the element of greed that Fury showed, it seems that they use it as a cover to lose his last fight against Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and come into the rematch as and the underdog on December 21st. Fury, 36, is trying to downplay the chance of losing the rematch with Usyk by saying his focus is on the money, not the sport.
By changing the frame and saying it’s all about money, Fury is trying to disguise the fact that he is athletically unlikely to win the rematch against the more technical Usyk. It’s a transparent tactic that Fury uses, but he doesn’t pull the wool over the fans’ eyes about what he’s up against in this fight. Usyk expected to beat Fury again, but this time, for a KO, he will put his career on ice.
“Andy Lee never had $200 million in his bank to make him happy. So what is my goal, and what is my goal? All these things are to make as much money as possible for me. That’s my goal .It’s not a belt. It’s not a boxing fight. It’s about making as much money as I can wheels fall off and I’m 50, crippled with a cane, walking down the street. That’s what I’m going to be,” Tyson Fury told Sky Sports during today’s London press conference for his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st.
“I’ve had 40 professional fights, and I was in every one of them for the money. If I wasn’t getting paid, I wouldn’t have done it,” said Fury.
