Gary Russell Jr. he blasted Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney in an interview, calling them out for being weak. Former featherweight champion Russell says ‘regular’ WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) is ‘bamboozling’ the public, ‘picking and choosing’ weak opposition instead of the fighters the fans want to see . This is done to ensure that Tank is not beaten.

Tank Davis held the secondary WBA lightweight belt for ages, which kept him protected from having to fight the dangers he would face if he held the main title.

Russell doesn’t think too much of Tank’s latest choice of opponent, Lamont Roach, who was plucked from the super featherweight division. He says that Tank is trying

“Tank has fought a lot of people that (fans) don’t want to see him fight anyway. I could see that coming,” Gary Russell Jr. said. to FighthypeHe reacts to Gervonta Davis handpicking Lamont Roach from the super featherweight division rather than choosing a lightweight.

Gervonta fought opposition that fans had no interest in seeing for his 11-year career. The only time he fought someone the fans wanted to see was when he fought Ryan Garcia, and that was considered a mischance. Whatever chance Ryan had of winning, the Tank weight stipulation he signed into the contract took it right away from him.

“I don’t think he can do this for much longer. I believe that the fans and also the media networks like you who have the platform and have the ability to push,” Russell said when asked how much more Tank Davis can run away with the weak cherry opposition as he did all his 11. – year of career.

Tank will probably get away with soft opposition until he retires because he doesn’t bring in a lot of PPV numbers, and he has a loyal following. It doesn’t matter if they don’t fight great opposition because a lot of them don’t know anything about the sport.

As far as they are concerned, Lamont Roach is elite. However, fighting against the type of opposition that Tank has faced since turning pro in 2013 will doom him to lower PPV numbers for the rest of his career. He will never be someone who brings 1 million purchases because he is not fighting the opposition that people want to see.

“You are all the ones who are deceived. You all want to see the best compete against the best, and the people who you feel are the best, are not trying to compete against the best,” said Russell. “They’d rather fight someone everyone doesn’t know. You’ve never heard of them.”

If Tank’s management were trying to match the best, he would be scheduled to fight Edwin De Los Santos on December 14th, not Lamont Roach. He would have beaten Vasily Lomachenko in 2017 when he was called first by him.

“Everybody’s like, ‘Damn, why are you fighting this person?’ not perception. Tank is picking and choosing. I always say, “It’s nothing personal,” but Tank will take it personally if I say, “I think you’re a (wimp)” because you’re fighting someone who isn’t. a dog

“I don’t want to discredit Lamont Roach. I know Lamong Roach. He’s a good man. I know his father. They’re all cool, but there’s levels to everything. Don’t think he’s fighting somebody from the area and making an impression which is Baltimore versus a dog from the area.

“He chooses and chooses. At some point, when pride, when ego, when integrity comes in and say: “I really want to see if I’m as good as I really think? I want to try to do better. Where is this in sports today?

“Yes, both of them are 100% healthy. I don’t think Lamont has a chance to win this fight. In my personal opinion, I don’t think Lamont is going to win the fight. It will be interesting in the early half of the fight . In the last half of the fight, Tank will start to walk him and start to KO or TKO, either,” Russell Jr. said. on the outcome of the Tank vs Roach fight.

“It’s going to be kind of a money grab for Lamont. He’s going to have some money, but it’s not career-defining (stuff). Tank fighting Lamont Roach is not a career-defining fight. It’s not a fight where the people will think that he is at risk or Lamont is a threat to him.

“I don’t think that’s the way to man. It’s some sucka (stuff),” Russell Jr. said about Devin Haney suing Ryan Garcia. “I think it’s sucka (stuff) on behalf of Haney or Bill. I don’t think Devin did it on his own. I’m pretty sure his dad is behind the scenes or in front of the scenes doing that (stuff) .

“But I did not consider that the way of the man. We are two competitors. We are two fighters. Personally, I do not believe that taking steroids or whatever it was that Ryan allegedly had. It does not help with your current skills. If you you’re a bum a** fighter and you take steroids or take performance drugs. Please, I believe you’ll always be a bum a** fighter,” Russell said.

Gary thinks that Devin’s father, Bill Haney, came up with the idea to start a lawsuit against Ryan. If that was the case, Devin should have thought about the backlash and the negative ramifications it would have for his career, such as losing the rematch against Garcia. It doesn’t take a genius to predict what will happen if Haney sues Ryan. Someone could realize that in a second and say, “No, that’s a stupid idea.”

“You just have to be able to do some bummy (stuff) for a longer duration before you get tired. It doesn’t help you become a better fighter. So, for him to take Ryan to court. I think it’s sucka (stuff),” he said Russell.

Practically the entire boxing world is tearing Devin Haney anew for his decision to sue Ryan Garcia for his positive test for Ostarine. The process caused Haney’s popularity to drop even lower than it already had after his defeat against Ryan last April, but what’s worse is that he no longer gets the rematch.

Ryan has already ruled this out. So, Haney’s lawsuit needs to bring in the kind of money he would have in the rematch to be worthwhile.

Even if he brings in similar money to Haney, his career won’t benefit the same way it would if he had beaten Ryan in the rematch and beat him. This would have meant that Haney was back to where he was before his loss last April. But his trial ruined that chance.
