On Saturday night, October 12, 18-year-old Mayweather prodigy Curmel “Big Deal” Moton made a brief appearance in South Philadelphia, as he stopped Hilario Martinez Moreno in the first round.

The Moton vs. Moreno bout was part of a boxing card that was promoted by former two-weight world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia. The event took place at Arena 2300, and is streamed live on DMDb.com.

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah who fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada, Curmel Moton made his professional boxing debut in September 2023. In the swing bout on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo card, Moton signed Ezequiel Flores in first place. round

Moton went 3-0 at 17, and a month after his 18th birthday, he signed Nikolai Buzolin in the second round. Boxers like to stay active, and during the course of this first phase of his professional boxing career, Moton received consistent work.

On the night of October 12, 18-year-old Curmel Moton bounced to his feet as he looked across the ring at his 25-year-old opponent. As the opening bell rang, the first thing you might notice is the high energy level of the Mayweather Promotions prospect.

Moton put his foot speed on display as he quickly settled into striking range. Once he got in range, he landed a right to the body. Moton proceeded to use his feint foot, and then started popping the jab.

After consistently landing the jab in the first 40 seconds of the contest, Moton threw a four-punch combination. After the combination, Moton connected with a right to the body. Moreno looked uncomfortable early in the contest due to Moton’s hand speed.

Moreno had his moment in the fight when he connected with a counter left hand, but unfortunately, it would mark the beginning of the end. Seconds later, Moton landed a left to the body, followed by a left to the head that sent Moreno down to the canvas.

As a result of the liver shot to the body, Moreno spat his mouth out of his mouth while he was on his knees in intense pain. The referee proceeded to take a knee directly in front of Moreno and counted him out.

Curmel Moton (6-0, 5 KOs) only provided a small sample size of action on Saturday night, but he was still able to show why he is one of the fight game’s fast-rising prospects. During his post-fight interview, Moton spoke about his mind after hearing the sound of the opening bell.

“I went outside. I felt him out at first, you know, checking his temperature, putting my jab in there, and umm, I noticed he was really afraid of the weapon, so I started letting my fists, and finally broke it.

Curmel Moton is an 18-year-old rising star who has a bright future ahead of him. Moton is expected to return to the squared circle in the immediate future as he will fight on the November 30th Swift Promotions card which will take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
