Who are the Top 10 heavyweights competing in the world today?
IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois made the first defense of his title when he destroyed Anthony Joshua on September 21. Right out of the gate Dubois looked strong and composed, and dominated the action from start to finish, dropping Joshua four times along the way, the last of which scored him the impressive and dramatic knockout victory. This upset win shook up the heavyweight landscape, where going into it, Joshua was widely seen as a Top 3 heavyweight. That is no longer the case, however.
Now the reigning heavyweight king is Oleksandr Usyk. In his most recent fight in May, Usyk was awarded a 12-round split decision against Tyson Fury. This win earned Usyk the undisputed world heavyweight championship, with Usyk becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since the great Lennox Lewis held the latter distinction almost a quarter of a century earlier. A little over a month after winning the undisputed crown, Usyk vacated the IBF title, which now belongs to Usyk’s former victim, Dubois.
Usyk is still the unified reigning WBA/WBO/WBC and lineal world heavyweight champion, and his next fight is scheduled for December 21st, and that fight will be broadcast on DAZN.

2024 is shaping up to be a big year for heavyweight boxing, one of the best years in a long time. More top heavyweights are always facing other heavyweights, and that’s a good thing for the heavyweight division. Turki Al-Sheikh deserves a lot of the credit here, as his interest in boxing has helped fund many fights we wouldn’t have seen otherwise, and this has been especially true in the heavyweight division. I hope that Turki continues to invest in heavyweight boxing (and boxing in general) where fans will be given the opportunity to see more interesting fights that are in high demand.
