Toro Promotion, Inc. launches new professional boxing series “The Heartbeat of LA Boxing” which was a huge success last night at Pacific Palms Resort. Undefeated Tsotne “Mr. T” Rogova (10-0, 7 KOs ) won the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title of the United States. It was an event that featured six professional launches. Including Walnut (CA) High School Senior Paolo “Pow” Barredo.
“This is definitely Southern California boxing at its best,” Toro promoter Azat Torosyan said after the bout. “You have to see a lot of shows to find one as good as tonight.”
In the co-main event, Rogova faced a fierce challenge from Alexander “The Great” Flores (19-5-1, 17 KO), earning a 10-round unanimous decision in an action-packed affair. Rogova, a 2020 Ukrainian Olympian, dominated the game early by knocking down Flores in the second round, rallying in the middle rounds before Rogova regained control.
Barredo, who celebrated his 18th birthday last week, fought featherweight Mycaquell “Maiche” Shields (2-6), knocking him out in the round. Third place and fourth-round stoppage, 2021 Junior Olympic champion Barredo impressed in his professional debut.
Another outstanding debut came from La Puente’s Alessandro “El Capitan” Alvarado (1-0, 1 KO), who defeated Eduardo Mondragon “. El Azteca” López In the lightweight division, 2021 California Silver Gloves medalist Alvarado showed his potential with a third-round stoppage.
