Bivol’s Manager Talks Canelo Rematch, Looking Past Beterbiev

Dmitry Bivol’s manager, Vadim Kornilov, has indicated that they are ready for a potential rematch with Canelo Alvarez. On X, Kornilov announced that superstar Canelo must “avenge” his defeats against Bivol (23-0, 12 KO) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. if he was not retired.

WBA lightweight champion Bivol still needs to win his undisputed fight next month against IBF, WBC, and WBO champion Artur Beterbiev on October 12 in Riyadh.

“Canelo has to avenge his losses to Bivol and Floyd Mayweather (if he hadn’t retired) before he or they say he’s the greatest again,” said Vadim Kornilov in X.

It is not known why Kornilov mentioned Mayweather in his post. He has been retired for seven years and is as old as the mountains at 47. Floyd is so old and slow now that he probably couldn’t beat one of the high-end YouTubers at this stage in his life.

Mayweather looks like an ancient fossil now from the Mesozoic era of the dinosaurs from 252 to 66 million years ago. Putting Mayweather in the ring with Canelo at this point would be a bad idea.

For Kornilov to talk about a rematch with Canelo is getting ahead of himself, assuming Bivol defeats Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs). There is an excellent chance that Beterbiev will knock out Bivol and expose him as having a weak chin.

Bivol was already injured in several of his fights and looked in panic mode after being defeated by Lyndon Arthur last December. After being hurt by Lyndon, Bivol stayed on the outside, fighting a dull fight, throwing jabs, and running away whenever Lyndon got close. It was as boring as watching one of Shakur Stevenson’s fights.

Bivol lacks the chin to handle a puncher like Beterbiev without moving around the ring endlessly for 12 rounds.

It would have been nice if His Excellency insisted Bivol defend against David Benavidez earlier in a semi-final match.

It would be much more fun for fans to have Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) and Artur Beterbiev meet for the undisputed champions rather than having Bivol, with his backup-first style, be the one to beat Artur for the championship four belts. . US fans will be much more interested in watching Beterbiev-Benavidez than Beterbiev-Bivol.
