Terence Crawford and His Excellency Turki Alalshikh called out Canelo Alvarez after his victory over Edgar Berlanga on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Crawford is thirsty and willing to take an L for that payday against Canelo.
It got to fans on social media that Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) was asking Canelo again for that retirement check. Unless Crawford wants to go up and take on the big dogs, he needs to give up his campaign to get that payday. Canelo has bigger fish to fry instead of helping a needy 37-year-old looking for a golden parachute.
Instead of Crawford chasing Canelo, he should give Israil Madrimov a rematch at 154 because their fight was too close last month. Canelo has already said he wants $150 million for the Crawford fight, and I don’t think he’s kidding. He says he will only fight Crawford if he gets $150M, and that is his final price.
Crawford and Turki were at the Sphere in town for the UFC event. The Nebraska native took to Instagram live to call Mexican star Canelo out on the line instead of attending his fight against Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena.
Terence Crawford: “Tell him what we’re doing next.”
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh: “Yes, let’s go. Canelo, go, we’re ready.
Crawford: “You heard from him. Just put it in the game. Canelo-Crawford, the biggest fight in boxing. But we’re ready, though. This way, we don’t have to prepare.”
The way Crawford fought Madrimov, he would have lost to Edgar Berlanga tonight if it had been him with him at T-Mobile instead of Canelo. We saw a weak and aging Crawford at 154 in his junior middleweight debut against Madrimov. He is too young to fight at 168, and would be treated like a child by Canelo.
If Crawford really wants that day of Canelo’s retirement, he needs to fight these four fighters at 168:

- Christian Mbilli
- Osley’s English
- Edgar Berlanga
