At least 40 dead in Gaza refugee camp after one of Israel’s largest attacks

The Israeli Army says its target was not civilians but Hamas militants based in the area.

An Israeli attack on a crowded refugee camp housing Palestinians displaced by the war in Gaza has killed at least 40 people and injured 60 others early this Tuesday, according to Palestinian officials. Israel claims that its objective was Hamas militants.

It has been one of the deadliest attacks to date in Mawasi, on the coast of Gaza. This area was designated by Israel as humanitarian space for hundreds of thousands of civilians to seek refuge and flee the war between Israel and Hamas.
