After winning the last edition of Eurovision Switzerland, the city chosen as the venue for the next edition of Eurovision 2025 is Basel.
Basel (Switzerland) will be the next venue for the Eurovision Song Contest, as announced today by the organizers of the contest. After the victory of the Swiss singer Nemo in Malmö at this year’s contest in Sweden with their song ‘The Code’, the mountainous country takes over as host for 2025.
It is the third time Switzerland wins the contestafter Lys Assia in 1956 and Céline Dion in 1988. The host station SRG SSR and the EBU will host the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025.
Jacobshallea stadium located in Münchenstein, just outside the city of Basel. The stadium is normally used for sports and concerts and It has capacity for 12,400 spectators after the 2018 renovations.
The semifinals will be held on Tuesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 15and the grand final will take place on Saturday, May 17.
“The EBU is delighted that Basel has been selected as host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The Festival was born in Switzerland, in Lugano, in 1956and it’s fantastic to bring it back to its birthplace almost 70 years later,” said Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest.
“Following contests held in the Italian- and French-speaking parts of the country in 1956 and 1989, we are pleased to bring the Eurovision Song Contest to German-speaking Switzerland for the first time.”
Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in history in 1956, in Lugano. He won the inaugural competition with the song ‘Refrain’, performed by Lys Assia.
The next time Switzerland won was in 1988, when the competition was held in Dublin, Ireland. Canadian singer Céline Dion won with the song “Ne partez pas sans moi.” Following Dion’s victory, Switzerland organized the contest in 1989 in Lausanne.
The last victory, Nemo with ‘The Code’ in 2024
This year, Switzerland won for the third time with the impressive vocal and acrobatic performance of Nemo with the song “The Code”. Nemo made history by being the first non-binary artist to represent Switzerland and the first to win the contest.

Tickets for all 9 shows, including general rehearsals, are expected to go on sale in the coming months.
