Banksy unveils the ninth work in his series about London Zoo

Banksy has revealed what is apparently the grand finale of his animal artistic route around London: the image of a gorilla lifting the shutter of London Zoo to free a sea lion and several birds, while the eyes of other animals watch from within.

The spray-painted mural is the ninth work in the series by the Bristol artist, who over the past nine days has presented a new animal work every day. According to the ‘BBC’, the team Banksy He assures that this will be the last work in the series.

Other recent works in the series include a rhino mounted on a silver Nissan Micra, a pair of pelicans on the side of a fishmonger in Walthamstow, east London, and the silhouette of a lobo Howling painted on a satellite dish above a garage in Peckham, London. The wolf design was removed by unidentified men a few hours after its appearance was verified.

Although there has been much speculation about the meaning of the project, Banksy has stated that his intention is to lift public spirits during a period when news headlines have been gloomy, as well as highlight the human capacity for creative play rather than destruction and negativity.

Banksy’s London animal series comes after the elusive artist sparked ire for a stunt in Glastonbury in June, in which an imitation migrant ship created by the artist crowd-surfed during performances by indie punk band Idles (also from Bristol) and rapper Little Simz.
