An unexploded Katyusha missile Second World Warwas found in a field about 100 meters from a service areawhere heavy fighting took place near Chlebowo, Polandin March 1945.

Engineers were carrying out operations near the road S3 when they found the missile and gave orders to evacuate the village of Chlebowo and the closure of a section of the road from Szczecin to Gryfino. Sappers have established a 1,500 meter safety zone.

About 80 people had to leave the town. Ten people were taken to a primary school in Gardno, while 13 people refused to evacuate.

The missile takes its name from a popular song in vogue during the Great Patriotic War, Katjuša, but the launch system was also called “Stalin’s organ“, from the name that the German soldiers gave it due to the noise of the rockets that came out.

“At this moment we are waiting for information from the sap patrol, which is already on the scene and already working. We are waiting for the so-called “green light” to close the S3 highway, the highway on the Gryfino Key stretch. We will also close the district road, which is currently behind us, between the village of Stare bryki Chlebowe, and the district road number 119, which runs from the village of Chlebowa to the village of Radziszewski,” said Jakub Kuźmowicz, police officer. press of the head of the police of the Gryfino district.

It is not the first, nor unfortunately, the last device that did not explode like those used in World War IIas we saw recently in Cologne and a bomb of large dimensions and destructive power.
