The first chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control (CFCB) determined that there is no conflict in relation to the timeshare rule between Manchester City and Girona, so both will be able to participate in the Champions League.

The CFCB had opened an investigation after determining that there could be violations of article 5 of the club competition regulations.

However, the body announced that there was an “implementation of significant changes by investors interested in the Girona FC and the OGC Nice (respectively City Football Group and INEOS)”, so it does not identify that there is a conflict in terms of timeshare.

Through a press release it is stated that the First Chamber of the CFCB will allow Girona and the Manchester City compete in the highest club competition, then:

“No one is simultaneously involved, directly or indirectly, in any capacity in the management, administration and/or sporting performance of more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition; and no one has control or decisive influence over more than one club participating in a UEFA club competition.”

The concern was that investors could have influence and decision-making power over the clubs; However, with the adjustments this will not happen, since “the investors in question have transferred their shares of Girona FC and OGC Nice to independent trustees through a blind trust structure created under the supervision of the First Chamber of the CFCB” .
