Trainer Jose Benavidez Sr. says his fighter Diego Pacheco (22-0, 18 KOs) will not overlook Steven Nelson (20-0, 16 KOs) in his 12-round head-to-head this Saturday, January 25 at the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan, Chelsea Ballroom, in Las Vegas. The event will be shown live on DAZN.

Jose Sr. he says they could fight anyone, but they wanted Nelson, 36, who isn’t exactly young for a nine-year professor. He got a late start in the professional ranks due to his long amateur career, but he has the talent to win this fight if he can get to the chin of the 23-year-old Pacheco. We see that Diego has a couple of close calls.
On the undercard, lightweight contender Andy Cruz will fight Omar Salcido in a 10-round fight. Cruz is looking to challenge WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson for his belt.
Out of sight Nelson
“They don’t want to face a fighter like Diego Pacheco. Canelo has everything to lose and nothing to gain,” said Jose Benavidez Sr. Sean Zittel about Canelo Alvarez is probably not agreed to fight Diego Pacheco.
“This will never happen because Canelo wants to fight the fighters who come to you. Fighters who have not looked so impressive. Diego Pacheco has good straight punches. He is young with good legs and power,” said Jose Sr.
“He is a good fighter. He is strong and relies on his power. That is why we are not underestimating Steven Nelson. We took him very seriously because he wants the same thing that Diego Pacheco wants. He needs to fight to get the big ones fights. We want to beat him to get the big fights. It will be a lot of fun for me and for the people.
“We tried to make an eliminator with Christian Mbilli. We signed the paper, and he said: “No, he wants to do another fight”. We are ready. These are the fights that will get us here. The dangerous fights to try the people
“We have shown ourselves and we are focusing on Steven Nelson. It is a very dangerous fighter. After that, we will look at our options. Now, we are 100% closed for Steve Nelson,” said Benavidez Sr.
