The cause of Haney-Garcia on pause as the progress of the rematch negotiations

ESPN reports that Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have agreed to suspend their lawsuit for 90 days. They reached an agreement to quit.

The two fighters reached an agreement to fight later this year, and dropping the legal dispute will pave the way for the fight.

Pending procedure

The agreement allows the process to be resolved, but it must be finalized. After it is finished, the case will be remitted. Ryan said that was the condition for him to negotiate a rematch with Haney.

Turki Al-Sheikh wants this rematch. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) filed a lawsuit after testing positive for the banned substance, Ostarine, following his win over Devin on April 20.

Garcia to take the interim fight

Ryan revealed today that he had a mystery opponent for his next fight, and “can’t wait” for fans to find out who it is. It’s not Haney. There isn’t a high level of interest in a second fight between them after Ryan scrapped it last April.

He wouldn’t fight him anymore unless he dropped his lawsuit. It makes sense for Haney because he will likely make more money fighting Ryan again than he would from the trial. Without a rematch, Haney would be stuck fighting other fighters for less money and a lot of risk.

Haney is not a great puncher, and his career prospects are not promising at 140 or 147. He did well initially moved to light welterweight, again an old Regis Prograis, but it would be more difficult for him to fight other fighters that i still am in their prime and they can punch.

That’s why he should get the rematch with Ryan. Even if his career falls apart soon after, he will have that big payday to live for the rest of his life.
