Turki Al-Shiekh posted a photo of him standing with Devin Haney and his father, Bill Haney, at their reunion today. Haney meets with Turki to discuss the possibility of fighting on one of his Riyadh Season cards.
Devin (31-0, 15 KOs) says he has already received an offer from BLK Prime to fight in March, but wants to see what Turki has in store for him. It’s unclear what kind of money Haney expects to get for what is likely to be a tuneup fight to help him regain his confidence after his loss to Ryan Garcia.

During an interview with the press today in London, Haney talked about wanting to “fight the best” and said he just wants a “level playing field.” He says he will “purify the sport”. Much of the focus of Devin’s interview was on him he tries to whitewash his loss to Ryan, accusing him of being “tricked” by him.

Well, if Turki offers Haney an opponent with a little pop in his fists for his next card of the Riyadh season, the Ryan Garcia rematch will go up in smoke and will be worth no more than the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua “Battle of The Losers”. ‘ fight Ryan Garcia did a number on Haney, knocking him out last April and beating the daylights out of him for 12 rounds.
Everything will be fine if Turki proposes Devin a can of tomato no power and only a few marbles following in his head. This type of guy Haney can beat, but anyone else would put him at risk of getting blown out again.
“Just because I got cheated in a fight, that doesn’t mean I’m going to change my tune. I still feel the same. I still feel like I’m the best fighter in the world,” Devin Haney told the media on Friday in London, trying to pump himself up rather than struggling artificially. “I think on an even playing field, I can beat all these guys.
“I have no news about my next opponent. We are looking at some guys, but His Excellency (Turki Al-Shiekh) called me for a meeting with him. That is why I am here with him. We will see. We hope, we can have something.
“It’s a possibility. BLK Prime has an opportunity for me in March. They offered me something, but now His Excellency called me for a meeting for me to fight. So, we’ll see if we can throw something together while I’m here” , Haney said.
Looking for an easy fight?
If Turki wants Haney to fight a live body on one of his Riyadh cards, it will sink the rematch with Garcia in the mud. Haney will lose, and his career will go up in smoke. Haney is not able to beat top level fighters at 135, 140 or 147.
You put him with the best fighters in any of these weight classes, and he will lose. I mean, real top fighters, not George Kambosos or Regis Prograis. I’m talking about quality fighters like Gervonta Davis, Jaron Ennis, Richardson Hitchins, Alberto Puello and Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela.
Devin is still trying to use Ryan’s positive test for trace levels of Ostarine as the reason for his loss last April, but the fans aren’t buying it. They saw Haney being whipped, and they didn’t buy his Ostarine excuse.
They saw him hit with left hooks all night and be saved by the referee in the seventh with his timely deduction of Garcia to hit on the break. The point deduction had no prior notice given to Ryan.
