Devin Haney will work in front of his British fans today in an open training at 2:00 pm in London, England. He has no fight scheduled.

Haney in London: Looking for the UK Boost

It’s a strange move from Dev because he’s not fighting a British guy; it is coming off an embarrassing loss, and its stock is low. He seems desperate to make this move, but it shows where he is in his career.

It will be bad for Haney if few fans and members of the media show up to see him work. However, there will probably be a good amount of British media showing up so you can get an interview.

Some believe this move is to build Haney’s brand overseas in hopes of being selected by Turki Al-Shiekh to fight on one of his Riyadh Season cards. Working in London, former two-division world champion Devin will gain exposure from the British press and potentially be noticed by Turki.

If he wants to add Devin to one of his cards, he could match a formidable opponent, such as Richardson Hitchins, Liam Paro, or Jaron Ennis. It’s doubtful Haney would agree to fight any of those guys because he didn’t want to put his rematch with Ryan Garcia at risk.

Haney’s A-List Status Lost

In the United States, Haney’s stock fell due to the combination of his loss to Ryan Garcia and his decision to start a lawsuit and stay out of the ring for a year, without fighting. The way his career looks right now, it’s not good for him.

He is no longer one of the A-list fighters because of that loss, and his chances of returning to his former place of high status are slim. There is no champion as weak as the ones Haney fought to capture his two-division world titles.
